Senior Centers in Mineral County play a vital role in the lives of our elderly.  Since the mid-1970s, our senior centers have been the backbone of community-based services, helping thousands of older Mineral Countians and their caregivers bridge the gap between complete independence and limited support. They became a vital source for community-based social, nutritional, and health promotion programs as well as an informational and referral resource. These centers are a place where older adults, age 60 and older, come together for services and activities that reflect their experience and skills, respond to their diverse needs and interests, enhance their dignity, support their independence, and encourage their involvement at the center and within their community.

Seniors participate in activities, including exercise and dance classes, arts and crafts, cards, computer training, table games, and billiards. Guest speakers on medical, financial, and consumer issues are provided to inform seniors on important issues. Seniors are also served hot, well-balanced lunches in a friendly group setting, encouraging social interaction and lasting friendships.

Keyser Senior Center History
1981 – Meal Programs begin and Mineral County Committee on Aging.
2004- Purchased Home on Overton place to house Health/Wellness programs, trainings and other activities.
2008 – Purchased 5.5 acres of land behind the new BB&T bank for future senior center.
2008 – Received first Hot Cold Truck for Meals on Wheels program.
2010 – Agency served it’s one millionth meal.
2013 – Started serving one evening meal per week at each Senior Center.
2016 – Sold the Overton Place
2020 – Purchased former Keyser Pizza Hut location for future Keyser Senior Center.
2021 – Construction began on New Keyser Senior Center.
2022 – The New Keyser Senior Center fully opens.
